Coworking Review
Eleven storeys of coworking, hotel rooms and after-work drinks above the Cape Town CBD. The flagship Ideas Cartel branch and the only one in Cape Town that stays open until 10pm, seven days a week.
Cartel House at 113 Loop Street is the spiritual centre of the Ideas Cartel network. The building stacks 120+ hot desks, 40 private offices and six hotel rooms across 11 floors, plus a professional sound system that gets a workout at the community evenings. Day pass is R200 ex VAT and monthly coworking is R2,000 ex VAT — same as the other Ideas Cartel branches, but you get the rooftop bar and the late-night hours that the suburban locations don't have. Members can come and go from 7am to 10pm Monday to Sunday, which is rare in Cape Town coworking.
Honest trade-offs: it's the loudest of the Ideas Cartel branches because everyone wants to be there. Loop Street parking is a daily lottery — bike, walk or Uber in. And like the rest of the chain, prices are quoted ex VAT, so a day pass is really R230.
