Coworking Review
Coworking inside a Victorian cottage hidden under an ancient oak in Plumstead. The Southern Suburbs answer to "I love working from home but I'm losing my mind" — and the friendliest community in Cape Town coworking.
Stoep Startup is named after the Afrikaans word for the front porch of a house, which is exactly what you walk onto when you arrive at 3 Tiverton Road. The space is a converted Victorian cottage in Plumstead with a garden, an on-site café, meeting rooms and an unmistakably home-like atmosphere. The community skews freelance and small-business — designers, writers, NPOs, founders of two-person companies — and the testimonials from members read like love letters. Hours are 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Day rates, dedicated desks and private offices are all available.
Honest trade-offs: pricing is not posted online — you call to book a tour and discuss rates. Plumstead is also a real commute from anywhere north of Newlands, so this is best as a "I live in the South" pick rather than a destination. And the home-like vibe is a feature for the community it attracts and a downside if you wanted polished corporate offices.
